SEO Content & Strategy FAQs
What is SEO copywriting?
SEO copywriting, in a nutshell, is when a copywriter knows how to create content that helps your website rank in search engines – without sounding bland and robotic.
There’s a bit of a misconception about SEO copywriting, which is that it has to sacrifice personality and brand voice in order to stuff those keywords in. This is not the case – or it doesn’t have to be.
The best SEO copywriting understands what the audience is looking for, answers their questions and helps them find the information they need.
Godd SEO = more visibility, more leads, more sales.
What’s not to love?
What’s the difference between SEO copywriting and content writing?
These terms get chucked around a lot – and for many people used interchangeably, but they’re not quite the same thing.
Content writing: A broad term that covers blogs, articles, guides and other informational content.
SEO copywriting: A specific skillset and approach that brings in keyword research, search intent, internal linking and optimisation techniques to help your content get found on Google and other search engines.
The best content, of course needs to do two things. Be useful and engaging to make it worth reading – AND structured in a way that search engines understand.
What should an SEO content strategy include?
When you put together an SEO strategy, whether on your own or with the help of an SEO specialist, it needs to include:
- Your business goals
- Keyword research
- Competitor analysis
- Content planning
- Optimised content writing
- Internal linking
- Performance tracking and reporting
Front and centre of any strategy has to be what you are actually trying to achieve as a business.
More traffic sounds good – but if it’s not actually getting you sales, what’s the point?
How long does SEO take to work?
If I had a pound… 🤣
Let’s just say this is a VERY common question!
And there is no simple answer. But it’s important to make it clear that SEO isn’t about quick overnight results – it’s a journey. Are there quick wins? Sometimes.
But usually, meaningful improvements in rankings and organic traffic can take a few months. And if you’re working with a good SEO strategy, they will be using the data and reports to constantly adapt and update the strategy for the best results over time.
Search engines need time to discover, crawl and evaluate new content – so the best SEO results usually come from a consistent strategy, not a hunt for overnight success via quick wins and sho
Do I need regular blogs to attract more website traffic?
Easy answer here – yes. Regular blogging is one of the best ways to drive traffic and, if written and structured well, generate inbound leads without spending money on ads.
Google LOVES fresh content. So set a schedule, create a content plan and write about your customers’ problems and how you solve them. Get yourself out there and established as an expert who is full of helpful nuggets of wisdom.
And if the thought of writing your own content fills you with dread, get some help from an SEO copywriter.

How often should I publish blog content?
There isn’t a magic number.
For some businesses, one high-quality blog a month is enough. For others, particularly those in competitive industries, publishing more frequently may make sense.
Being consistent about your content publishing is more important than pushing out loads of fluff and filler just for the sake of it. Google likes good content – and it won’t take long to recognise if your content is AI slop that looks the same as everything else online.
Can SEO help if my website traffic has dropped?
Yes – but the first step is understanding why traffic has dropped.
Sometimes it’s caused by technical issues. Sometimes it’s because competitors have improved their content. Other times, search behaviour changes or existing content becomes outdated.
An SEO audit is usually the best place to start because it helps identify what’s happening and where the biggest opportunities are.
You can find out more about whether you need a website audit by reading my blog.
Is SEO worth it for small businesses?
In my experience, yes.
Small businesses often can’t compete with larger companies on advertising budgets, but they can compete through useful content, expertise and a well-planned SEO strategy.
One good piece of content can continue generating traffic and enquiries for months or even years after it’s published.
Website Copywriting FAQs
Why should I work with a copywriter?
If you’re a business owner and want to make money from your digital content, working with a copywriter is a no-brainer. A good copywriter can get traffic to your website, sell your products and help you nail your messaging strategy.
A copywriter has the skills to turn your ideas into sales and revenue. Not to mention: hiring a professional writer gives you more time to do what you do best – running your business!

How much does website copywriting cost?
The honest answer is: it depends.
A simple website refresh will cost significantly less than a full website strategy and rewrite.
The best approach is usually to start with your goals and work backwards from there.
Some businesses need a single landing page. Others need an entire website, content strategy and supporting SEO content.
Can you rewrite my existing website copy?
Absolutely.
In fact, many clients already have a website that contains useful information but isn’t performing as well as it could.
Sometimes a rewrite is about improving clarity. Other times it’s about improving SEO performance, user experience or conversions.
How long does website copywriting take?
Every project is different.
A small website may take a couple of weeks. Larger projects with multiple stakeholders, rounds of feedback and supporting research will naturally take longer.
I always agree timescales at the start of a project so everyone knows what to expect.
What’s the difference between website copy and SEO content?
Website copy is designed primarily to explain your services, communicate your value and convert visitors into enquiries.
SEO content is often designed to attract people to your website through search engines.
The strongest websites use both together.
Can you help if my website isn’t generating leads?
Yes.
One of the first things I look at is whether your content aligns with what potential customers are actually searching for.
Sometimes the issue is traffic. Sometimes it’s messaging. Sometimes it’s user experience.
The good news is that these things can usually be identified and improved.
Education Copywriting FAQs
What makes education copywriting different?
Education audiences are knowledgeable, engaged and often highly discerning.
Whether you’re writing for schools, colleges, universities or education technology companies, the content needs to demonstrate genuine understanding of the sector.
As a former teacher, child protection officer and school leader, I bring first-hand experience alongside professional copywriting expertise.
Do you work with schools, colleges and universities?
Yes.
I’ve worked with organisations across the education sector, including schools, colleges, universities and national education organisations.
Projects have included website copy, campaign content, thought leadership, prospectus content, blogs, case studies and strategic communications.
Do you write for EdTech companies?
Absolutely.
I’ve worked with education technology companies creating SEO content, campaign materials, guides, thought leadership content and website copy.
The challenge is often translating complex products into language that resonates with educators and decision-makers.
Can you write course pages and prospectuses?
Yes.
Course pages are often some of the most important pages on an education website.
They need to provide information, answer questions, build confidence and encourage applications, while also performing well in search engines.
Why hire a specialist education copywriter?
Because sector knowledge matters.
Education has its own language, challenges, audiences and priorities. Working with someone who understands the sector usually results in stronger content and a smoother process.
LinkedIn Strategy & Ghostwriting FAQs
Is LinkedIn worth it for lead generation?
For many businesses, absolutely.
Around 80% of my own business has come through LinkedIn connections, referrals and inbound enquiries.
It’s one of the most effective platforms available for building visibility, credibility and professional relationships.
What does a LinkedIn ghostwriter do?
A LinkedIn ghostwriter creates content on your behalf while ensuring it still sounds like you.
That can include content planning, post writing, profile optimisation and overall strategy.
The goal isn’t to create generic content. It’s to help you consistently share useful ideas and build authority in your industry.
How often should I post on LinkedIn?
Consistency matters more than frequency.
For some people, one quality post a week is enough. Others may benefit from posting more regularly.
The right answer depends on your goals, audience and available time.
Can you write LinkedIn posts for me?
Yes.
I work with business owners and leaders to create LinkedIn content that reflects their expertise, personality and commercial goals.
Do I need a LinkedIn strategy?
If you’re posting randomly and hoping for the best, probably.
A strategy helps ensure your content supports your wider business objectives rather than simply filling up a feed.

Should I use a ghostwriter for LinkedIn?
If you struggle with confidence, clarity or the time to show up consistently online, a ghostwriter can be a game-changer.
A good ghostwriter will make you sound like you on your best day – while creating a strategic content plan that connects with the right people. You get the presence. You get the leads. And you don’t need to be glued to your phone all day.

Can I use AI to write my content instead of a copywriter?
Honestly? Sometimes – yes.
As a copywriter, part of me wants to scream ‘never!’
But realistically, AI can help with the basics: titles, ideas, outlines and inspiration.
Just don’t publish bland, generic AI content. It doesn’t convert, it harms your brand voice, and Google doesn’t reward low-quality content.
A human copywriter brings strategy, emotion, psychology and messaging that actually sells.
